Admittedly, I am a coffee snob.  I wish I wasn’t – but I am.  I don’t want the same drink day after day.  I need it to be fresh and I really like it if it’s a new flavor or a new blend or there is a new conversation surrounding it.  I love the experience.

I felt bad about being a coffee snob, until… I realized that it is metaphor for my life.

I want the full experience.  I don’t want the same day over and over.  My satisfaction comes from “BEHOLDING!” each day; discovering the freshness of God hidden in each new cup (day) – just waiting to be tasted.  He speaks: “Sit, relax, sip, linger, enjoy.”

Let me serve up the special brews in my life:

Vanilla Latte’… Timothy, my husband.  My favorite morning cup of coffee.  Together (me and Tim); like vanilla in my coffee; is how I most enjoy life.  I love his company.  I savor our love and friendship.

My most favorite moments are sharing conversations with Tim in new cafés discovered on an adventurous day!

It’s an honor to be his wife. He is teaching me more about living a generous life… I don’t just love him, I am in love with him.

White Chocolate Raspberry Mocha… Kory, Cheri, Lily & Khloe’, our family in Columbus.  Son, Kory (artist extraordinaire), daughter-in-law, Cheri, and beautiful granddaughters, Lily (2007) & Khloe’ (2010) bring so much flavor into our lives!  They are really joyful people.  They love life, laughter and God… what a perfect blend!  When they are visiting – I love that we get to break out the gamesJ.

Mountain Blueberry CoffeeKatie.  Our daughter (1985).  Know how a great cup of coffee fits perfectly in your hand – and the warmth of the coffee makes you feel comfortable?  That’s how it is with Katie and me.  Katie lives in Vermont, serving as a resident instructor for a residential Christian counseling center for teenage girls, therefore our visits are few and far between – yet there seems to be no time lapse once we are back together.  I love her companionship and her understanding of life.  She is wise beyond her years and lives from her soul in such a way that people know and experience God when with her.  It’s beautiful.  She’s beautiful.

Irish Cream Latte’… Dillon (1987).  Dilly is perhaps one of the funniest people I know… what makes him so enjoyable is that he doesn’t care if you think he’s funny or not.  He too lives in Columbus and is a lover of history (like his father.)  He is genuine and kind.  He is also a man of much trivia… how he manages to remember as much as he does I’ll never know.  In common: our love for movies.

Hazelnut Coffee… Jacob (1991).  Emphasis on the “nut.”  Jacob is nearly always in a good mood and is quite silly.  He makes me laugh. A lot.

He is the only one of the kids left at home and is taking full advantage of it… although he would tell you it stinks because he is the only one left to do chores! We spend a lot of time together… watching movies tops the list.

Jacob is athletic, intelligent and handsome… but more than that he is a man pursuing God… I’m so grateful.

House Blend… How I keep grounded.

Besides my family… My Friends.

My life is much sweeter because of sojourners.

They bring encouragement, wisdom, joy, laughter, love, and life to my journey.  It brings a richness to my soul.  (Incidentally – Barbara means consecrated sojourner!)

I seek to live a more contemplative life.  With God, others and nature.

I seek to discover more beauty around me. In God, others and nature. (I am especially fond of bluebirds.)

I seek God.

After all, He first loved and chose me.  “You did not choose me, but I chose you…” John 15:16
